Service Description
Eco-Tech's Apple Data Eradication Service provides a secure and cost-effective solution for removing confidential information from Apple laptops and desktops. Using a USB-based Linux Live OS and industry-standard tools, we completely wipe user data, including macOS system volumes, APFS and HFS+ partitions, recovery partitions, and personal files. Booking Instructions When booking this service, please first select the Apple Data Erasure option that matches your device and service requirements: Desktop Basic, Laptop Basic, Desktop Advanced, or Laptop Advanced. If you have additional Apple computers requiring data erasure, select the appropriate option under the "Additional Devices" section and enter the correct quantity. If you require physical destruction or document shredding services, scroll down to the "Extra Services" section and select the applicable service for your booking. Available options include Apple iMac Desktop Destruction, Apple Laptop Destruction, Product Shredding – iPad/Tablet, Product Shredding – Phone/Portable Drive, Laptop Shredding, Enter the correct quantity of devices for each selected service. Accurate selection ensures proper scheduling, resource allocation, and correct pricing. Basic Erasure is performed on-site at Eco-Tech using GParted for fast and effective data removal, while On-Site Advanced Erasure is performed at the client’s home or office using a single-pass zero-fill overwrite with the dd CLI command for enhanced security. Due to the nature of a full disk overwrite, this process can take several hours to complete, typically around 2.5 hours for a 1TB 5400 RPM hard drive. To use this service, the device must power on and be in proper working condition. Basic Erasure may be supervised at Eco-Tech for transparency. For the On-Site Advanced Erasure option, the overwrite process is initiated by Eco-Tech staff but is not supervised to completion; clients are required to take a photo of the completed process and send it to Eco-Tech to confirm successful erasure. This service provides a reliable, non-invasive way to securely erase Apple devices while promoting responsible recycling. Pricing is $20 CAD per device for Basic Erasure and $140 CAD per device for On-Site Advanced Erasure ($20 CAD per additional computer). Volume discounts are available for multiple devices. By choosing Eco-Tech, customers ensure their sensitive data is removed safely while contributing to a more sustainable approach to electronics disposal.
Cancellation Policy
Eco-Tech requires payment details to be collected upfront for all booking services to secure appointments due to increased no-shows, which disrupt operations by preventing the allocation of dedicated service time. Payment details are only used to charge in the event of a no-show or failure to attend a scheduled appointment. If the client attends their booking, no payment is processed through the booking system, and payment is collected in-store at the time of service completion. For all bookings, clients are required to provide at least 48 hours’ notice for any cancellation or rescheduling. Failure to provide adequate notice, including no-shows, may result in a $20 cancellation fee only. The full service fee will not be charged in cases of no-show or late cancellation. This policy is intended to support efficient scheduling and fair allocation of service time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide consistent and quality service.
